These 3 are the advantages and disadvantages of a having a roommate

An annoying roommate in college days, can clearly make you understand this statement with a flash of memories “roommates are god’s gift”. There are plenty of questions you might have before choosing one, but here we summed up the advantages and disadvantages on having a roommate.

Advantages:

Expenses:

Living in a condo or an apartment, will be expensive in cities like New York and New Jersey, but when the bill is split into half, the burden is half. Your immediate emergency expenses and late night movie popcorn expenses will be saved by your roommate’s share.

Reliability:

He/she is someone you can trust in the new city, not because they are your roomie but because of the prolonged time spent and living together you both will create a bond out of trust, friendship and reliability.

Chore share:

Coming home exhausted and cleaning up the mess isn’t a pretty picture. It’s tiring, if you have a roommate and you have charted out a timetable for chores to share. Then the trouble and work is lesser.

Disadvantages:

Less space:

Some have ideas of furnishing the small room with a furniture set or a coffee table of their taste, but when another person is living with you, it’s a headache because of the space they occupy with their things.

 Privacy issue:

Bringing your girlfriend or your colleagues’ home and your roommate is adjacently having his own private party with his friends without informing you and you are expecting privacy in that situation which you definitely don’t want to handle. An added roomie is a spoiled privacy.

Damage and mess:

“An annoying roommate is untidy”, goes a saying without any arguments to justify it. Finding your place messy and uncleaned because of your lazy roommate is the worst situation to put oneself when they are back from tiring day at work.

Apart from the advantages and disadvantages it’s up to you to choose based on the situation and your mindset, choose wisely or stay alone and enjoy the space.
