Not too selfish tips to share a fridge with roommates

Let me nail it. We share a fridge, but everyone has their rainy day. “Food spoilage” is not the word, but even before we got to look at it, our gift of scent let us know. Practice made a perfectly shared fridge for us. ‘Peace’ is the perk of a well-kept shared refrigerator.

We’re about 6 enthusiastic cooks! So we decided to share equal space in the kitchen and fridge.

Groceries are needed, not freebies always: A chart of the items is a humble start. It started at the grocery store. Not falling as a victim of freebies helped a lot.

Fridge space lined up by baskets: My flatmate assigned fridge space for each one of us. These recycled baskets hold the condiments and green groceries.

Label is good: We know who owns the curries and fish meat.

Tight wraps and molds don’t patch up: Even if you’ve got vegetarians or vegans around, you don’t have to bother about the fish and steaks!

Doors are for diary, ketchup and seasonings: We label them too. Also they don’t need the entire fridge.

Also “ketchup” and “sauces” are commonly shared.

Split, but clean, take charge: We adhere to cleaning every week. All we do is taking turns.

This way you can stop molds creeping into food.

Last, but not the least, we replace the “ketchup” and “mustard sauce” if anyone of us is the last to finish it.

Shared fridge doesn’t stink always!
