Firstly, call a roommate meeting and talk about the various #chores and decide what needs to be done by whom. From purchasing supplies, sweeping and mopping the floors, cleaning the kitchen, scrubbing the toilets, sink and bathtub, vacuuming the carpet, dusting and tiding up to taking out the trash, make a list of chores.



Don’t forget to list the supplies needed to accomplish these various room chores. Also split the cost of the supplies needed evenly. 


Some chores need to be done every two weeks, whereas others like cleaning the kitchen or taking out the trash should be done more often. So decide how often chores need to be done. Make sure that you and your roommate agree on how often each chore needs to be done to avoid future clashes.



Determine who doesn’t mind doing certain chores. While doing chores isn’t exactly fun, some people enjoy doing them. So ask your roommate which chore he/she is comfortable with andsplit equally. You could always take turns while doing an unpleasant chore.


In order to remember the chores you can also make a ‘chore chart’ or a ‘chore calendar’ of when chores need to be done. But remember that most people don’t like to see their names on a marker board. So consult with your roommate before putting up such a chart.



Most importantly don’t pester. Remind your roommate of their chores but do not irritate them with a “do your chores” chant. Everyone isn’t going to do everything like you do. So be ready for that.
